Glee Comeback: Ryan Murphy has already written the script

A possible "Glee" comeback is getting closer! Ryan Murphy has now spoken out about it and confirmed: There's already a script. When asked about a potential revival of the TV series, the co-creator of "Glee" told Entertainment Tonight:

"Well, funny you ask, 'cause I just finished the script an hour ago. So, yeah, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk] and Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something."

In addition to his comments about the finished script, Murphy also spoke about the original series' cast. His words offer hope that some of the stars from back then might be on board for a revival:

"I've been in touch with around ten of the original cast members. It's very sweet. They all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea."

However, the stars apparently haven't seen the script yet, as Murphy adds:

"Nobody's read it, so I don't know, we'll see. I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think. Particularly the cast, cause we were very close when we were making it."

So nothing is set in stone yet. However, fans hoping for a comeback from their favorites can, based on Murphy's update, have legitimate hopes that a new season of "Glee" will happen in the future. Just two weeks ago Lea Michele, one of the original lead actresses, was asked about a possible reboot. She emphasized to E! News that the series holds a special place in her heart and that she would follow Murphy "wherever he goes."

"Glee" premiered in 2009 and ran until 2015. During that time, the TV series spanned 6 seasons with a total of 121 episodes. The show centers on the glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. When the music program's previous teacher is fired, Spanish teacher Will Schuester – played by Matthew Morrison – takes over. As a student, he was once a member of the glee club himself. And now he wants to lead the group to success – though this certainly comes with its share of challenges.

The series was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan, who also served as writers and executive producers. In addition to Matthew Morrison, the cast included Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris, Mike O'Malley, Naya Rivera, and Harry Shum Jr. Over the years, the cast members Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Naya Rivera have passed away.

The series frequently addressed the students' everyday problems, dealing with topics such as their relationships, gender issues, and family. Above all, however, music was always at the center of the show. "Glee" captivated audiences with countless well-known pop songs, which were performed by the characters as cover versions in each episode. One unforgettable moment, for example, was at the end of the first episode, when we hear the cover of the 1981 Journey hit "Don't Stop Believin'". The whole thing could easily have come across as cheesy, but it turned out to be an uplifting moment that made viewers want to keep watching.
