Spider-Man Brand New Day: First posters unveiled at CinemaCon
In addition, a scene from the new Marvel movie starring Tom Holland was shown
The theatrical release of the new Marvel film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is fast approaching. To build anticipation, the first posters were unveiled at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas. A clip was also shown that makes it clear: Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker, has anything but an easy time of it.
The clip has not yet been released to the public; it was shown only to CinemaCon attendees during Sony's presentation. However, several U.S. media outlets have described what can be seen in it. The film scene focuses on the private life of the superhero, who is once again played by Tom Holland. As the title "Brand New Day" already suggests, a completely new chapter is beginning in Peter Parker's life. Because: The people around him have forgotten that he exists.
Film scene at CinemaCon: Peter Parker's heart is broken
This includes his former girlfriend Michelle Jones-Watson, portrayed by Zendaya in the film—who unwittingly breaks his heart. In the scene in question, we see him encounter her at a house party. When MJ sees him but doesn't recognize him, he pretends to be Maynard—and shortly thereafter has to watch as she is kissed by her new boyfriend. He, in turn, is played by Eman Esfandi, whom we already saw briefly in the trailer for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
Spider-Man's gaze at MJ is also the focus of the movie poster released at CinemaCon. It features a close-up of the masked superhero, in whose eye the face of Zendaya, aka Michelle Jones-Watson, is reflected. In contrast to this rather wistful motif, the second poster gets right to the point. It depicts a confrontation between Spider-Man and a group of ninjas—who likely belong to the mysterious organization "The Hand"—just moments before it unfolds.
Is she playing Jean Grey or not? Sadie Sink's role in Brand New Day remains a mystery
What unfortunately still hasn't been revealed at CinemaCon is Sadie Sink's role in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Ever since it was announced that the "Stranger Things" star would be joining the cast, there have been rumors about her character. Among other things, there is speculation that she could portray Peter Parker's great love from the comics, who, like Sadie Sink, has red hair: Mary Jane Watson, aka "MJ." But: Zendaya already plays an alternate version of "MJ"—which doesn't necessarily make the theory of another "MJ" any more likely.
Many suspect, however, that another red-haired character from the Marvel comics is in the works: Jean Grey, aka Marvel Girl. Alongside Cyclops, Beast, Angel, and Iceman, the mutant is one of the original members of the X-Men. Jean Grey possesses telekinetic and telepathic powers and, as the Dark Phoenix, evolves into an overwhelming threat. We've already seen a glimpse of this development on the big screen. In "X-Men: The Last Stand," the character was played by Famke Janssen. In "Dark Phoenix," Sophie Turner took on the role of the titular mutant with destructive powers.

Spider-Man Brand New Day is coming soon to theaters
The X-Men are expected to play a central role in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. An appearance by Jean Grey in "Brand New Day" could potentially lay an important foundation for this. We'll find out soon enough what Sadie Sink's role entails. After all, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" hits theaters on July 31, 2026. By then at the latest, we'll also know whether Peter Parker's heart can handle seeing MJ make out with someone else.
In the meantime, you can check out the trailer, which is already breaking records. Among other things, it racked up a billion views in just four days—a record no other movie trailer has ever achieved, highlighting just how eagerly the theatrical release of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is being anticipated.
