Good news from Wakanda: after months of radio silence, there is finally new information about "Black Panther 3". According to a recent entry from the Film and Television Industry Alliance, shooting for the MCU film is set to begin in London on June 15, 2026.

There is also already a title: "Black Panther 3: Shadows of Wakanda". In terms of content, the film will deal with the increasing vulnerability of Wakanda following the death of King T'Challa. At the center of the plot is Shuri, who is challenged both as a warrior and as a political leader. This sees Letitia Wright return to the role once again.

In addition, rumors about a new cast for the Black Panther continue to do the rounds. At the forefront: "F1" star Damson Idris. In an interview with the industry magazine Variety, the actor was cautious but interested:

"I am thankful to the fans. Of course it's rumor but I love that movie. I love the world."

Although Shuri is clearly back in focus in the third installment, a later appearance of Idris in the MCU would be conceivable – for example as an older version of T'Challa's son, who was introduced in the post-credit scene of "Black Panther 2". As for the cast, only Denzel Washington has been officially confirmed so far. However, we can assume that the cast members from the previous films will also be back. The film is scheduled for release on February 18, 2028.

Film tips in the style of Black Panther: epic stories beyond Wakanda

"Black Panther" changed superhero cinema forever. The film combined spectacular action with Afrofuturism, political themes and a strong cultural identity. Since then, many viewers have been looking for films that pick up on similar elements: hidden worlds, powerful leaders and the conflict between tradition and progress. These film tips are aimed at anyone who would like to find the spirit of Wakanda in other stories.

Strong warriors and historical power

One movie that fits perfectly with the theme of "Black Panther" is "The Woman King" (2022). It focuses on an all-female elite warrior unit in the African kingdom of Dahomey. The film impresses with its intense battle sequences, emotional depth and a strong main character, played by Viola Davis. Similar to Wakanda, it is about the protection of one's own people, loyalty and the price of power. The respectful portrayal of African history and traditions is particularly impressive.

Power, resources and cultural identity

"Dune" (2021) is another work that should appeal to Black Panther fans. It focuses on political intrigue, the struggle for a valuable resource and the survival of a people in a hostile environment. The Fremen and their culture are strongly reminiscent of Wakanda's closed society and their resistance to outside influences. The epic production and profound themes make "Dune" a modern science fiction epic with parallels to the world of "Black Panther".

Superheroes with cultural roots

An obvious but nevertheless fitting tip is "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" (2021). Like "Black Panther", the film places great emphasis on cultural identity and family conflicts. Shang-Chi's journey between the modern world and traditional heritage reflects the inner conflict of many MCU characters. The mythical world of Ta Lo fulfills a similar function to Wakanda – as a hidden place full of magic and history.

Political themes and the fight for hope

Away from superpowers, "Children of Men" (2006) is recommended. This dystopian thriller deals with themes such as the abuse of power, social decay and the search for hope. Even though the film is much more realistic and gloomy, it shares the political aspirations of "Black Panther" and the question of how a better future can be shaped.

Conclusion: The spirit of Wakanda lives on

These film tips show that "Black Panther" was not an isolated case, but part of a larger movement in cinema. Whether historical epics, science fiction or superhero films – stories about identity, responsibility and cultural pride can be found everywhere. If you get involved, you will discover many new worlds that carry on the spirit of Wakanda in their own way.
