At last, concrete details on the release date for "The Housemaid's Secret"! After the huge success of "The Housemaid", the announcement of a sequel was not long in coming. By now, several details about the second installment are already known – from the cast to the start date. Additionally, the first poster for the film has been unveiled.
This was shared on social media with the words "When one door closes…". At the same time, the poster reveals the official release date of December 17, 2027.
What is The Housemaid's Secret about
"The Housemaid's Secret" will adapt the second novel of the same name from Freida McFadden's bestselling series. The novel from 2023 once again revolves around Millie Calloway (played by Sydney Sweeney in the movie). After the turbulent events of the first film, Millie takes on a new job as a housemaid in Manhattan. But the circumstances at the Garrick household are mysterious. Millie does not initially meet her new employer Wendy Garrick – and is not supposed to speak to her. Is her husband really who he appears to be? And what lies behind the locked door?
The Housemaid 2 Cast
Of course, Sydney Sweeney will once again take on the role of Millie. This time she will be joined by Kirsten Dunst, who will play her new employer Wendy. Amanda Seyfried also revealed that she will most likely make a guest appearance. In part one, Seyfried was seen as Nina Winchester. Enzo actor Michele Morrone is also set to return for the sequel.
Behind the scenes, the production relies on the successful duo from the first film: Paul Feig will direct "The Housemaid 2", with Rebecca Sonnenshine once again writing the screenplay. Production on the sequel is expected to begin in fall 2026.
