The "Euphoria" cast featuring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and co. has been joined by a big name: Sharon Stone. The "Basic Instinct" star joins the cast in the third season of the HBO series. A first still of Stone has now been released - and it allows us to draw some conclusions about her character.

It is not yet clear exactly what role she will play in the series. However, the photo suggests that her character works in the entertainment industry. In the picture, Stone can be seen sitting behind a desk in a black business look. The Warner Bros. water tower is clearly visible in the background, making it clear that her office is located on the Warner Bros. Studios lot. Behind her, an Emmy statuette can be seen alongside a few photos, again suggesting that she works in the TV industry in some form.

Sharon Stone is thrilled

Since Warner Bros. is the parent company of the "Euphoria" channel HBO, it could be that we can expect some form of self-referential storyline about the TV series business in the third season of the show. Especially as HBO commented on Sharon Stone's photo in a social media post with the allusive words "She runs the show".

Stone's casting was announced back in February last year. In a statement, the Hollywood star spoke enthusiastically about the series from creator and showrunner Sam Levinson. "There is little more exciting than going to work with this team of thrilling talent," she explained, adding with a wink, "I am honored to be Euphoric."

Time jump in season 3 of Euphoria

The first season of "Euphoria" was launched back in 2019. The series tells the story of a group of teenagers who go to high school in the fictional Californian town of East Highland. The focus is on the drug-addicted protagonist Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya. Other stars include Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer. In the third season, Sharon Stone will be joined by numerous other guest stars, including Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne, director Eli Roth and the hip Spanish singer Rosalía, whose current album "Lux" has been euphorically acclaimed by international critics.

With the addition of Stone, "Euphoria" has a well-known star who, in a way, fits the series perfectly. Nowadays, "Euphoria" repeatedly triggers controversial debates with its nude scenes, but the protagonist of the erotic thriller "Basic Instinct", played by Sharon Stone, already caused outrage in the 1990s with her revealing scenes. However, the controversial role of Catherine Tramell finally made her a star in 1992. We will soon find out whether Stone also leaves such a lasting impression in "Euphoria". On April 12, 2026, the eight-episode season 3 of "Euphoria" will start on HBO.

As has already been announced, there will be a five-year time jump in the plot of the new season. Series creator Sam Levinson also revealed that Rue has debts in the new episodes, which she tries to pay off in an unusual way. First impressions of the events of the third season of "Euphoria" can be seen in the recently released trailer:
