The Adventures of Cliff Booth: When Will the Tarantino Sequel Starring Brad Pitt Be Released?
Has the release window for the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel been revealed?
Latest news on the sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood"! In "The Adventures of Cliff Booth", everything revolves around the stuntman played by Brad Pitt. According to consistent media reports, the start date has now been revealed to the public.
The Release Window for The Adventures of Cliff Booth
The release window for the Netflix film is said to have been mentioned in an article in the industry magazine Deadline. But the date is no longer listed there. Specifically, it was stated that "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" is set to premiere in August 2026.
It's quite possible that this information wasn't intended for the public and was therefore removed from the article. It's also conceivable that it was simply a mistake. Nevertheless, the release date would make sense. Even before that, there was already talk of a summer release. And filming was already completed in December 2025.
It remains unclear whether the film will also be shown in cinemas for a short period of time. After all, Netflix sometimes releases larger and more prestigious projects on the big screen on a limited basis. This is planned for the new "Narnia" film by Greta Gerwig, for example.
This is what The Adventures of Cliff Booth is about
"The Adventures of Cliff Booth" is set eight years after "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". This time, however, Brad Pitt's character Booth is no longer a stuntman, but works as a fixer in Hollywood. The screenplay is once more by Tarantino, though this time the director is David Fincher. The cast includes "Tenet" star Elizabeth Debicki, "Hawaii Five-0" actor Scott Caan, "Mindhunter" actor Holt McCallany, Carla Gugino from "The Haunting of Hill House" and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for "Matrix: Resurrections".
A first trailer for "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" was already shown during the Super Bowl 2026 – but has not yet been released. As soon as the trailer for the Fincher film is available, you will find it in the KinoCheck app and on our YouTube channel. In the meantime, you can rewatch the trailer for "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" here.
Two movie giants: David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino
The fact that Quentin Tarantino and David Fincher of all people are teaming up for "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" is probably one of the most exciting creative constellations that Hollywood currently has to offer. Both have been considered style-defining filmmakers for decades – with a clear signature, uncompromising visions and a filmography bursting with iconic works. Nevertheless, the collaboration is somewhat surprising. After all, their films are quite different.
Tarantino, who made cinema history with films such as "Pulp Fiction", "Kill Bill", "Inglourious Basterds" and "Django Unchained", is known for his dialog-driven screenplays, non-linear narrative styles and his unmistakable blend of pop culture, violent aesthetics and laconic humour. Fincher, on the other hand, stands for a different kind of film. With films such as "Seven", "Fight Club", "The Social Network" and "Gone Girl", he has earned a reputation as a master of cool, controlled staging. His works are characterized by a dark atmosphere, meticulous visual compositions and an almost surgical precision in editing.
However, both filmmakers have one thing in common above all: their collaboration with Brad Pitt. In addition to "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", Tarantino and Pitt shot "Inglourious Basterds" together. The actor worked with Fincher on "Seven", "Fight Club" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
What could the collaboration mean?
It is precisely the differences between Fincher and Tarantino that make the collaboration so extraordinary. For "The Adventures of Cliff Booth", this could mean that Tarantino's characteristic dialog and his flair for quirky, memorable characters meet a much more focused, perhaps even darker movie.
In the end, this creative friction could be the movie's greatest strength: When Tarantino's distinctive voice is filtered through Fincher's precise visual language, the result is, at its best, something that neither could have created on their own. "The Adventures of Cliff Booth" is therefore not only a sequel, but also a rare experiment between two directing giants – and precisely for this reason one of the most fascinating film projects of the year.
