Emmy Awards 2025: These Are the Nominees for the Most Important Series Awards
The nominees are Andor, The Penguin and Adolescence, among others
It's almost that time again: The most important awards in the series world will be handed out. The Emmys will be awarded on September 14. As usual, the outstanding actors, directors, screenwriters, and others will be honored for their achievements over the past year. Eligible for consideration are series that were broadcast in the United States from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
The number of nominations for individual series makes it possible to identify some favorites for the coveted awards in advance. The acclaimed sci-fi series "Severance" received the most nominations. The Apple TV Plus show was nominated a whopping 27 times, including in the most important category of "Outstanding Drama Series". It was followed by the HBO production "The Penguin": "The Batman" spin-off received 24 nominations. The Apple comedy "The Studio" with Seth Rogen and the HBO critics' favorite "The White Lotus" each received 23 nominations. Trailing behind, but still earning significant recognition, are series like "The Last of Us", "Andor" and "Adolescence".
Of course, there were also some notable "snubs", i.e. series that were overlooked. Among them is Netflix's mega-hit "Squid Game". The Korean series did not receive a single nomination. The absence of all "Andor" actors in the major acting categories is also disappointing for many. Meanwhile, HBO and HBO Max received the most nominations overall, followed by Netflix and Apple.
