The war film "Sisu", released in 2023, proved to be a real hit for action fans. A sequel was even announced in the same year – and now the release date for "Sisu 2" has been set!

As Deadline magazine reports, the sequel will be released in cinemas on November 21, 2025. Filming for "Sisu 2" took place in summer 2024 and was completed at the end of the year.

Little is yet known about the plot of the sequel. What is certain, however, is that the director and screenwriter Jalmari Helander will be back. Jorma Tommila is also returning in his role as the resilient gold prospector and Nazi terror Aatami Korpi. New to the cast are well-known Hollywood actors Richard Brake and Stephen Lang, known for "Avatar" and "Don't Breathe".

"Sisu" is set in Finland shortly before the end of the Second World War and tells the story of former soldier Atami, who stumbles across a gold find. Shortly afterwards, he is attacked by German troops, who are in retreat and in the process lay everything in ruins. The Nazis underestimate the seemingly old man – a fatal mistake, as Aatami fights back with brutal determination.

Toughness, Dust and Survival: Movie Tips in the Style of "Sisu"

Sometimes cinema doesn't need big words – just determination, a rusty gun and a handful of enemies. Movies like "Sisu" and "Blood & Gold" deliver just that: dirty action, taciturn heroes and merciless violence in harsh surroundings. Anyone looking for similar experiences will find the best movie tips here: uncompromising, direct and brutally honest.

"Blood & Gold" (2023)

If "Sisu" is the Finnish version of the Nazi gold action film, then "Blood & Gold" is the German answer. Director Peter Thorwarth delivers a straightforward story: a deserted soldier and a young farmer's wife fight against fanatical Nazis in the last year of the war – and for a hidden treasure of gold. Black humor, hearty violence and a wonderful anti-hero charm make "Blood & Gold" a must-see for fans of rough action with style. Particularly strong: the mix of western aesthetics and spaghetti action in the middle of decaying Nazi Germany.

"First Blood" (1982)

John Rambo is the archetype of the lone warrior: taciturn, traumatized, deadly. "First Blood" is less about heroism and more about survival – just like Aatami Korpi in "Sisu". The woods become a battlefield, improvisation is the weapon. An 80s action classic that still looks surprisingly raw.

"The Revenant" (2015)

A man against nature – and against his enemies. Alejandro G. Iñárritu's survival drama shows what the true will to survive means. Leonardo DiCaprio drags himself through icy cold landscapes, driven by pain, hatred and determination. Visually breathtaking and brutally direct.

"The Proposition" (2005)

In the dusty Australian outback, no laws count – only loyalty and blood. Nick Cave's dark outback ballad depicts violence so painfully realistically that every shootout is an existential catastrophe. Anyone who loves "Sisu" for its mood will find what they are looking for here.

"Inglourious Basterds" (2009)

Tarantino's brutal alternative story about a group of Jewish partisans who hunt down German soldiers in Nazi-occupied France fits the bill perfectly. "Inglourious Basterds" combines black humour, exploding peaks of violence and laconic dialogue to create a dirty, stylized war film. Tarantino's characters may talk more than in "Sisu", but when they act, they act mercilessly. Legendary: the tavern scene – pure tension that explodes in brutal violence.

"Come and See" (1985)

No explosions, no heroic poses: "Come and See" shows the war through the eyes of a child. Unadulterated, brutal, disturbing – and so atmospherically dense that it sometimes takes your breath away. Anyone who gets involved with this movie will never forget it.

"Bone Tomahawk" (2015)

A western? Yes – but not the romantic kind. S. Craig Zahler's "Bone Tomahawk" is a merciless journey through the wilderness in which a small group of men try to rescue a kidnapped woman. What begins like a classic western ends in one of the most shocking orgies of violence in modern cinema. Calmly told, but brutal in its impact – just perfect for "Sisu" fans.

Conclusion

Those who love "Sisu" and "Blood & Gold" are looking for movies with few words, lots of determination, dirty landscapes and a hero who can withstand anything the world throws at him. So be it in the rugged forests of North America, in Nazi-occupied France or in the Australian outback: it's not about big speeches. It's about survival.
