Update: The new trailer for "Spider-Noir" is now here! You can watch the video in our article.

Fantastic times are ahead for Spider-Man fans. In addition to the new movie "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the new Prime series "Spider-Noir" is also set to launch this year. The first images are already available, and a first trailer is also set to be released today. As soon as the "Spider-Noir" trailer is released, we will show it to you here!

"Spider-Noir" shows an alternative version of the popular Marvel superhero Spider-Man. Instead of present-day New York, the action takes place in the Big Apple of the 1930s. The protagonist is Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), an aging private detective who is struggling with his life. He once fought crime as the masked superhero The Spider. But now he has left that life behind after a personal tragedy – until he is forced to return from his early superhero retirement.

A dark world: Nicolas Cage becomes Spider-Noir

The first stills from "Spider-Noir" show, among others, lead actor Nicolas Cage, both with and without his mask and superhero outfit. The scene showing The Spider in the pouring rain above the rooftops of New York City in particular already gives an impression of the dark atmosphere of the material.

Other photos show additional cast members from the series. One is Cat Hardy, played by Li Jun Li, a nightclub singer with connections to the underworld. Another is Lamorne Morris in the role of Robbie Robertson, a friend of Reilly's and a journalist who risks life and limb for his stories.

The images also reflect a visual feature of the series. Spider-Noir will be available on Prime in two versions – both in color and in black and white. The latter is a nod to classic Hollywood films of the film noir genre.

Not the first appearance of the alternative Spider-Man

"Spider-Noir" is set to launch on Prime Video on May 27, 2026 and will consist of eight episodes. In addition to Nicolas Cage, Li Jun Li, and Lamorne Morris, the cast also includes Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson, among others. The new series was developed by Oren Uziel, who most recently worked on the screenplay for the action comedy "The Lost City." He also serves as showrunner, alongside Steve Lightfoot, who already has experience with dark Marvel material. Lightfoot was responsible for the ultra-violent Netflix adaptation of "The Punisher."

The series is based on the comic book series "Spider-Man Noir," created by writers David Hine and Fabrice Sapolsky and artists Carmine Di Giandomenico and Marko Djurdjević. The first issue was published in 2009 as the start of a four-part miniseries and also deals with an alternative film noir version of Spider-Man, also set during the Great Depression. However, the protagonist in the comics is not Ben Reilly, but Peter Parker, named after the original Spider-Man. In the dark series, he embarks on a vendetta after his beloved uncle is murdered. Over the years, the character has appeared repeatedly in other comic book adventures from Marvel. With "Spider-Man Noir: The Gwen Stacy Affair," a new comic book series about the masked avenger is also being released this year.

Spider-Man Noir has also been seen on the big screen in the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." This brings us full circle to the new streaming series on Prime, as the superhero was voiced in the movie by none other than "Spider-Noir" star Nicolas Cage.
