Gen V canceled: No season 3 – but new The Boys spin-off confirmed for 2027
Jaz Sinclair and others are speaking out on social media about the series' cancellation on Amazon Prime Video
"Gen V" is ending after season two on Amazon Prime Video. There won't be a third season of the spin-off of "The Boys", as Variety reports. The good news is: "Vought Rising," a new series set in the Vought Cinematic Universe, is set to premiere as early as 2027. And: We'll likely still see characters from "Gen V" in the future.
At least that's what executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg's comments suggest. In a statement, they explain:
"While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we're committed to continuing the 'Gen V' characters' stories in 'The Boys' Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You'll see them again."
The "Boys" spin-off "Gen V" revolves around the shady Godolkin University, where students with superpowers are trained. The cast includes Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, Asa Germann as Samuel "Sam" Riordan, as well as London Thor and Derek Luh, who both play the role of Jordan Li. In the first season, Chance Perdomo also starred as Andre Anderson. But he passed away in 2024 at the age of just 27 following a motorcycle accident.

Gen V stars react on social media
Some cast members commented on the now-announced cancellation of "Gen V" on social media. Among others, Jaz Sinclair reacted in an Instagram Story with the following words:
"There's so much I wanna (and will) say, but for today I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm so happy you're here and I'm so grateful for this incredible experience."
London Thor also posted on Instagram, writing:
"This show changed my life. So long Jordan. Thank you for everything."
Maddie Phillips, meanwhile, posted a behind-the-scenes video with the words:
"Live laugh love, later!!!"
The Boys spin-off: Vought Rising set to launch on Amazon Prime Video in 2027
While the end of "Gen V" is set in stone, a new "The Boys" spin-off is already on the way for next year on Amazon Prime Video. The launch of "Vought Rising" has been confirmed for 2027, as reported by Deadline. The series is a prequel set in the 1950s and follows a twisted murder mystery. Among others, it features the familiar characters Soldier Boy and Stormfront. As in "The Boys," we'll see Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash in their respective roles.
So despite the cancellation of "Gen V," fans can look forward to more stories from the Vought Cinematic Universe. Especially since another spin-off, "The Boys: Mexico," is currently in development and, as the title suggests, is set to take place in Mexico City. But: We'll also have to say goodbye to the original series "The Boys" soon. The fifth and final season of the series is currently airing. On May 20, 2026, the final episode of "The Boys" will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

After that, it's the end of the superhero series that has repeatedly and delightfully turned the genre on its head since its debut in 2019. Unlike what we're used to from Superman and company, many of the superheroes we encounter here are less concerned with fighting for good. Instead, they use their abilities for personal gain, sometimes even abusing them mercilessly. Ironically, the superheroes are celebrated like celebrities. Yet the true heroes aren't the egomaniacs adored by the public, but those who stand against them—including Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, and his ragtag group of resistance fighters.
"The Boys" is based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The Amazon series was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke, who also serves as one of the executive producers. Together with Craig Rosenberg and Evan Goldberg, he also developed the spin-off "Gen V," which is likewise based on the comic book source material. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters took on the role of showrunners for the series. The spin-off "Vought Rising" was created by Eric Kripke. Paul Grellong is set to serve as showrunner.
