The Bear Season 5: The series is apparently ending
For Jamie Lee Curtis, there is no doubt at the end
The signs are mounting: there will probably be no sixth season of "The Bear". According to Deadline, citing unnamed sources, the series starring Jeremy Allen White will come to an end after the upcoming fifth season. Official confirmation is still pending. But there were already signs that "The Bear" was coming to an end. The reason: an Instagram post by Jamie Lee Curtis.
The actress plays the mother of the protagonist Carmy in the series. About two weeks ago, she posted a picture of herself and Abby Elliott, who plays Carmy's sister in "The Bear," on Instagram. She wrote:
"FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with."
For many, it was clear: Curtis had revealed that the end of season 5 was also the end of the entire series. Especially since she now emphasizes in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that there is no doubt in her mind. "But everybody's confirmed the show is ending," she explains. "I think everybody understood that it was the last season of the show."
The Bear: Fifth season set to arrive in 2026
The series, which launched in 2022, centers on the highly talented haute cuisine chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White. After the death of his brother, he returns home to take over his family's sandwich shop "The Original Beef of Chicagoland." Together with his new colleagues, he strives not only to whip it into shape, but also to overcome his own deep-seated traumas.
Alongside Jeremy Allen White, the series' main cast members are: Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Matty Matheson, and Edwin Lee Gibson. The creator, showrunner, and executive producer of "The Bear" is Christopher Storer, who wrote and directed most of the episodes. The fifth season of "The Bear" is expected to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2026.
First celebrated, then criticized
The series was euphorically acclaimed by critics from the outset. In addition to the credible performances and dialogues, the cinematic realization was also highlighted. Thanks to the frenetic staging, the permanently high stress level to which the characters in the kitchen are exposed is always palpable for us viewers as well. The first two seasons in particular were unanimously praised. "The Bear" was repeatedly described as one of the best series on contemporary television. It also won numerous awards, including the Emmy for Best Comedy Series and for actors Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
However, the third season was met with increasingly critical voices. "The Bear" was still considered a high-quality series, but critics complained about the development of the protagonist Carmy and the plot, which they felt was treading water. The fourth season reconciled some critics. However, the exuberant enthusiasm of the first two years was lacking. It will be interesting to see what the critics have to say about the fifth and probably final season of "The Bear."
