Pierce Brosnan and Other Actors Cast in Extraction 3
The Russo brothers will once again serve as producers
Strong support for Tyler Rake: Netflix has cast five new actors for "Extraction 3". According to Deadline, the ensemble is led by Pierce Brosnan, who most recently appeared in the series "MobLand", among other projects.
We'll also see martial arts star Joe Taslim, "28 Years Later" actor Chi Lewis-Parry, Siena Agudong, and Don Lee. Lee will also take on the lead role in the Korean "Extraction" spin-off "Tygo", which centers on a mercenary who embarks on a brutal quest for revenge in South Korea's criminal underworld. Very little is known about the plot of "Extraction 3", however. The only thing confirmed so far is that the sequel will pick up directly where "Extraction 2" left off and send Tyler Rake on another dangerous mission.
In addition to lead actor Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani will also return. Behind the camera, Netflix is once again relying on a proven team. Sam Hargrave, who directed the first two films, will return to the director's chair. The Russo brothers will serve as producers. Filming is currently underway in Australia. However, a specific release date has not yet been announced.
Pierce Brosnan: An Overview of His Most Famous Roles
Pierce Brosnan is one of those actors who has appeared time and again in major film productions over the decades. For many movie fans, he is inextricably linked to James Bond. But his career encompasses much more than just his time as secret agent 007. From romantic comedies and musicals to adventure films and modern TV series, Brosnan has portrayed numerous diverse characters.
James Bond Made Him a Global Star
Pierce Brosnan took on what is arguably his most famous role in 1995's "GoldenEye". Succeeding Timothy Dalton, the Irish actor became the new James Bond and left his mark on the character across several films. Brosnan's Bond combined the agent's classic elegance with a distinctly more modern – and at times tougher – edge.
"GoldenEye" was followed by "Tomorrow Never Dies", "The World Is Not Enough", and finally "Die Another Day". The fourth film, in particular, garnered significant attention in 2002 and also marked Brosnan's final appearance as 007. Although Daniel Craig later ushered in a new era for the series, Brosnan remains one of the most iconic Bond actors for many fans to this day. His confident demeanor, dry sense of humor, and classic charisma were a perfect fit for the character.
Mrs. Doubtfire and the charming Brosnan
Even before his Bond days, Brosnan proved that he could shine outside the action genre. In the 1993 comedy "Mrs. Doubtfire", he played Stuart Dunmeyer, the new partner of Miranda Hillard. This cast Brosnan alongside Robin Williams, who, as the divorced family man Daniel, transforms himself into the eponymous housekeeper. Although the role wasn't the defining one of his career, it's among his best-known early Hollywood appearances. Brosnan embodied the likable, well-groomed counterpart to Robin Williams' chaotic character.
Mamma Mia! Showed a Different Side
After his Bond career, Brosnan surprised many viewers with a role that could hardly be further from 007. In "Mamma Mia!", he played Sam Carmichael, one of Sophie's possible fathers. The film relied entirely on the music of ABBA and showcased Brosnan in an unusual setting. The fact that he sang a few songs himself drew mixed reactions, but made his performance all the more memorable. Brosnan later returned for "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" and reprised the role of Sam. The character thus became an important part of his later filmography.

The Thomas Crown Affair as a Gentleman Thief
Brosnan took on another notable role in 1999 in "The Thomas Crown Affair". As the wealthy art collector Thomas Crown, he played a man who commits a spectacular art heist and, in the process, clashes with investigator Catherine Banning, played by Rene Russo. The role allowed Brosnan to showcase precisely the qualities that had already defined his Bond: elegance, self-assurance, and a certain penchant for risk. At the same time, he was able to portray the character in a much more relaxed and playful manner.
The Matador
In "The Matador, Brosnan then showcased a much more eccentric side. As the washed-up hitman Julian Noble, he played a man who has become increasingly estranged from his former life. The black comedy gave Brosnan the opportunity to deliberately subvert his image as an elegant gentleman. The role is therefore considered important evidence that Brosnan can also excel as a character actor and is not exclusively typecast as the classic leading man.
From Percy Jackson to Black Adam
Brosnan has also appeared in major fantasy and comic book adaptations. In "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief", he took on the role of the centaur Chiron. Finally, in 2022, "Black Adam" followed, in which he became part of the DC Universe as Doctor Fate. With this role, Brosnan once again embodied a character with supernatural abilities and joined an ensemble cast led by Dwayne Johnson.

Pierce Brosnan Remains Versatile
Today, Brosnan is far more than just the former James Bond. His filmography ranges from spy films to comedies and musicals to fantasy and superhero productions. Most recently, he appeared in the gangster series "MobLand", among other projects. And his next major projects are already in the works. So it's clear that the former 007 is returning once again to an action-packed setting a genre that has shaped his career like no other.
